Devices

USB over Network and USB for Remote Desktop are easy-to-use applications. The main difference between them is that USB for Remote Desktop is designed to work in remote desktop session, whereas USB over Network is a great tool for sharing a USB device over any TCP/IP network, including with virtual machines.

Both USB for Remote Desktop and USB over Network consists of two parts: one must be installed on the local PC or thin client where USB devices are physically plugged in, other must be installed on the virtual machine.

Local Hyper-V virtual machine

If your Hyper-V virtual machine is running on the local computer and accessed via Hyper-V Manager — USB over Network is your best choice. You need to install USB over Network Server on the host PC and USB over Network Client on the virtual machine.

Hyper-V via RDP

If your Hyper-V virtual machine is accessed via RDP — USB for Remote Dekstop is the right product for you. USB for Remote Desktop Server should be installed on the virtual machine and USB for Remote Desktop Workstation on the local PC or thin client.
